Meeting Cody for The First Time

Well it has been awhile since I posted. So I will begin by saying, lots has been going on in my life. Between baseball and softball, I am on the go all of the time. But one thing that has kinda taken center stage in our life is Katie's first boyfriend. This is not your typical relationship though, sadly it is a long distance one, and we all know how hard those are. Katie met Cody online through a mutual friend back in January. At the time, I was not happy about this, and I took her computer and her phone away from her. You hear so many scary things these days. I was worried that maybe is was some 50 year old pervert posing as a young boy just to meet young girls. Turns out I was wrong.

For the past 6 months Katie has been communicating with Cody, both on line and by phone and text message. Katie would put him on speaker phone and our whole family would talk to him, It was like we had a disembodied member of our family, he was just a voice on the phone. Of course we saw pictures of him that he posted on line or sent to Katie's phone. I thought that after a few weeks, they would get tired of each other and Cody would be old news. But...once again I was wrong.
We had been talking for quite some time about visiting Gettysburg, PA because Billy had been asking us to go. He and His Grandpa always talked about going so we planned a trip and coincidentally, guess who lives 20 minutes from Gettysburg? Yep Cody. So we decided we would take Katie to meet him. First I worried that they would not like each other when they met face to face, but, you guessed it I was wrong again. When we got to Gettysburg, our hotel room was not ready so we could not check in, which was bad because, we had left home very early, with the intention of getting our room and getting cleaned up before we went to meet Cody. Since our rooms was not ready, I had Katie called Cody to see if there were any hotels close by where we could go to get cleaned up before coming to see him. Unfortunatly he told us that there were no hotels closer than the one we were going to stay in, which happened to be 2 miles from his house. His mom said for us to come there, Katie was adamant that she could not meet him until she was cleaned up and beautified. But after lots of coaxing from Cody and his mom, we went straight to his house Katie was so worried and I think a little embarrassed. But it made no difference to Cody, they made an instant connection. His family was wonderful, they helped us to find a hotel, and drove there so that we could follow them so that we would not get lost. That evening, after we cleaned up. We went to dinner with Cody and his family and walked around Gettysburg for a while, they were all so very nice. We have definitely made some new friends.
The next day, we picked Cody up and we went on a tour of Gettysburg and then we went to the movies and for Pizza. Of course when it came time for us to take him home and head back to Akron ourselves, Katie and Cody were both sad to be parting but I told them we would come and see him again. To tell you the truth,I was sad to be leaving him too. In just 24 short hours, Cody Dodson made quite an impression on me and Katie's Dad. Honestly I was expecting to go there and find something that I would not like about Cody, but I honestly fell in love with him myself. He is truly and awesome young man and he cares alot about Katie.

Hello All

Here we are once again, it is baseball season and out come he boys of summer, making memories in the sunshine. Billy has been playing ball now for 6 years and for four of those years, he has been wowing them on first base and amazing them on the mound. I thought I would create this little page to commemorate four years of some really great baseball. My favorite baseball song is "Centerfield" by John Fogerty. I love the part where it says "roundin' 3rd and headed for home is a Brown Eyed Handsome Man" it always reminds me of Billy.

Hello All,

It has been a while since I last posted. I have been really busy and really haven't had much time to get on the computer in the last few months. I would really like to start updating this blog at least once a week if I can. We are now in the beginning part of Baseball and Softball season. Ron is still working 2nd shift and since my dad passed away, I have had to do it all by myself, which means with both kids playing, I don't get much extra time.

But anyway that enough about that. I thought I would post my latest scrapbook pages for you all to see. The first is a picture that I took of Ron and Billy when he was just a few weeks old. It is one of my favorite pics because of the say that Ron and Billy's hand just happened to be positioned in the same way as they both slept. Like father like son.

Next is a pic of Katie and Billy on daddy's shoulders, this was taken when katie was around 4 years old, just after one of her T-ball games. It just reminded me of how much we depend on our dad's love and strenght in our lives. I sure miss mine.

The third is a layout I did after we watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark". I have been a Harrison Ford fan since he did "Hanover Street" and Force 10 from Navarone" years ago. I always tell the kids "he was my hero before I met your dad." They always get a kick out of it. But it is true, Ron is my hero, he doesn't need to "protect the powers of the devine" , "save the cradle of civilization" or "defeat the Armies of Evil", all he needs to do is be a wonderful husband and an incredible dad.

Just finished this one of Katie. She went bowling last Saturday night with some friends and took these pics. I could not resist scrapping them. Her and her friends are crazy they have lots of fun when they get together. In this pics they all sprayed their hair orange. I have no clue why, but hey I'm old what do i know?

New Page

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to share this new page that I did of Katie. Doesn't she have the most amazing brown eyes? I took this picture at a football game and just had to put it on a scrapbook page. Katie is so full of life and love, and it shows in those big brown eyes.

Check out my videos. I just found out about this website today. I was posting in the forums at Elements User when I came across a post in which someone had add this link. The name of the site is Animoto. I thought I would try to do a couple of really short videos of the kids. I love this site, and want to do some more, longer videos. Be sure to check back from time to time for new stuff.

This is Katie and her friend Craig. They both play in the 8th grade band. Last Friday night, they got to march with the high school band. They had a great time. Katie plays the flute, but she just recently got an electric guitar, and is going to be a "ROCK STAR" someday. No one can say that my kids don't dream BIG.

Band Practice

Friday, September 21, 2007

This is a picture that I took of Billy while he watched the high school football players practice. He talks about playing football in high school all of the time. His dream right now is to play for Ohio State. He works hard not only on the field but in the classroom as well. He is striving for straight A's this year, and I know with his determination, he can do it.

Someday

Youth Night and Kent Game

Hello! It has been quite awhile since I have posted. I have been really busy, so I have not had time. I will start with the first football game of the season. We played against Ravenna. Billy still had 4 pounds to lose the Wednesday before the game. So he stopped eating Thursday at about 5:00 p.m. and did not eat until Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in order to make weight for the game. Unfortunately, he was not feeling well after going for so long without eating, so we got him something to eat and the team mom gave him a protein shake, but the coach made the decision not to play him. Even though he was feeling good and strong by the 2nd half, he sat the bench. We lost that game. But the good news is he has made weight for every game thereafter without much effort.

The following week we played against Manchester, we won that game 7-0. Sept. 8, we had a Bye week and Sept. 15 we played Kent which we won 27-0. Our record now stands at 3-0. Our varsity team is UNDEFEATED! They win one more game and they get to go to Florida.

Sept 14, we had youth night at the high school. All of the youth players got to go out onto the field and Katie got to march in the Band it was a very nice evening.

These are some of the pictures from these events

Once again, Spartan Pride has dominated on the field. On Saturday the boys played against Ravena and Field although we did not score in either game, we held both teams to ZERO!

Then on Sunday they played at Dix Stadium at Kent State University, oh what a day! The rain poured down in buckets, but that did not dampen the boys spirit. They went out and played their hearts out and won agianst Manchester 14 - 0!!!! YEAH!!! GO SPARTAN JV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They also played against Field, and once again held them to ZERO!! What a great group of players we have. I am so excited about this year.

I love the first picture in this slideshow, I was kinda worried about Billy playing with older kids, but his seems to fit right in and has made good friends with some of these boys.

WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Scrimmage game was great. Billy was awsome! Not only did he start on the offensive line, they had him on defense too! He was in on a couple of really great tackles! They won 35 to 0!!! Can't wait for a real official game. I think it is going to be a really good season.

August 10, 2007

Tomorrow is Billy's first scrimmage game against the Manchester Panthers. He's pretty proud of himself. He is playing with boys that have 2 more years experience on the field, yet he was still made starting left tackle on the offensive line. I thought I would share this picture of Billy going after the ball carrier, this kid came down hard. I know, I know,..... I'm just ONE-PROUD-FOOTBALL-FAN-OF-A-MOM!!!

I took this picture last year when I was playing around with a new camera. I really love this photo. I think it looks elegant and romantic. This is, of course, a side of Ron that is rarely seen. I thought I would record this rare moment in a scrapbook page. I know, I know there are flowers on the page, and they are around a picture of a manly man, but I just thought this picture needed an old fashioned elegant look. Sorry Hon. I did choose the moth elements because he once told me that as a kid he had a collection of moths and butterflies.

Here are some of the pages that I created in July. I really enjoy digital scrapbooking. I love the preserve our family memories. I will have a lot more to add. Everything that I create right now is done with purchased kits. My goal over the next few months, is to learn how to create some of my own papers and elements. If I accomplish this goal, I will be sure to share some of my creations with my digital scrapbooking friends.

My Pages for August 2007

Sunday, August 5, 2007

Hello,
This will be my first post. Today is August 5, 2007. I started this blog so that I can share scrapbook pages with friends and family. I have been scrapbooking digitally for only about a year, so I am new at this but I am learning more everyday.

As some of you know, my dad just past away in January. At first, I was so busy taking care of everything that needed taking care of that I did not have time to think about it much. But now that things have slowed down, I realize just how much I miss him. And I realize how very important our memories are. I wanted to start this so that I could record the little day to day things that are so precious, you know the things you don't ever want to forget. I am going to begin this blog with a layout that I did to remember the bond that my dad had with my son. Some of you have already seen this layout, and most of you know how close my dad and Billy were. It is so sad sometimes to see Billy without my dad, because they were always together, now it seems that part of him is missing. I know that my dad is always with Billy. He will always be with Billy because Billy has so much of him in his heart. He has been gone for 6 months now and I am just now finding myself grieving over him, realizing it is just the little day to day things that I miss the most. The phone calls in the afternoon after work, sitting with him at football and baseball practice, listening to him cheer for the kids at their games, have him to call on day or night when my computer was doing something stupid that I could not fix. He was always there, not just for Billy but for all of his family. He was loving, kind, generous and comforting. We all miss him so very much.
